Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to know what I want to talk about before a session?
No. Many people arrive confused, conflicted, or unsure where to start. That’s normal. We can work it out together.
How long are sessions?
Sessions are long-format.
Most run between 90 minutes and 2 hours, depending on what the work requires.
How many sessions will I need?
That depends on the situation, the depth of the issue, and how ready you are to engage with it.
Some people come once.
Some come regularly.
Some return occasionally.
Some work more intensively for a period.
There is no assumed path.
Is this ongoing weekly therapy?
Not by default.
If you want weekly sessions, that’s fine, let me know, and we’ll set it up.
If you don’t, that’s fine too.
This work isn’t paced to keep you coming back.
Do you give advice or tell people what to do?
Not in the sense of instructions.
I share insight, name patterns, and help you see the options available from where you’re standing.
The aim is clarity and agency, not compliance.
You decide what you do next.
Do you work with individuals and couples?
Yes, individuals and couples.
When working with couples, I work for two individuals, not for “the relationship” as an abstract idea.
Both perspectives matter.
Is this suitable if I’m in crisis?
If you are at immediate risk of harm to yourself or others, this is not the right service; emergency or crisis support is needed.
If you are overwhelmed, stuck, or struggling but safe, an introductory call is the best place to start.
What does “principled” mean in practice?
It means the work is guided by clear principles rather than techniques or scripts.
Responsibility over blame.
Clarity over comfort.
Agency over dependency.
The principles shape how we think together; they aren’t rules imposed on you.
What are the benefits of this way of working?
People often leave with:
-
a clearer understanding of what’s actually happening
-
insight into their own patterns and reactions
-
a better grasp of the other person’s position
-
practical options and a way forward
-
a restored sense of agency
Not just relief, orientation.
What if I’m unsure this is the right fit?
That’s exactly what the free introductory call is for.
No pressure.
No obligation.
Just a real conversation to see if this way of working fits.
