Privacy and confidentiality

How I look after your information when you use this website, book or work with me.

Who looks after your information

I am Steve Day, trading as Steve Day Therapy, at 10 Pool End, St Helens, WA9 3RE. You can contact me about your information at stevedaytherapy@protonmail.com.

Booking and contacting me

I use your name, contact details, appointment choices and payment status to arrange sessions, communicate with you and manage bookings and payments. For a couples booking, the form also asks for the other participant’s contact details. Please provide these with their knowledge. You do not need to put sensitive personal history in the booking form or an initial message.

Booking details are needed to arrange the service you ask for. Payment and transaction records are also used for accounting and any applicable legal obligations. I do not sell your information or use your session information for marketing.

Confidentiality and session notes

I treat your information as private and confidential. During sessions, I may make brief handwritten notes to help me follow the conversation. These contain no client names or other identifying details and are kept securely, with access limited to me. I replace the notepad every six months and shred the old one. Booking, payment and other administrative records are kept separately.

What we discuss is confidential, with the professional exceptions explained in the working agreement: a serious risk of harm, a legal requirement, or professional supervision without identifying you.

The services that help things run

Cloudflare hosts this website. Wix provides booking, checkout and booking confirmations. Your chosen payment provider processes the payment; this website does not store your card details. Google Calendar supports scheduling and Zoom provides video meetings. Email or WhatsApp providers process messages sent through those services.

These providers process the information needed for their part of the service. Their systems may process data outside the UK. Their own privacy information explains their locations and safeguards. Relevant notices include Cloudflare, Wix, Google, Zoom, Stripe and PayPal.

Website storage and measurement

The booking system uses browser storage to keep the booking process working and avoid accidentally repeating a checkout. Hosting and booking providers also process technical information needed to operate and protect their services.

Optional Google measurement helps me understand website visits and which adverts lead to bookings. On this website, no Google measurement is loaded until you choose Website analytics. Advertising attribution is a separate choice. Both are off initially, and you can reject them and still book. Use Measurement choices to change your mind at any time. Your choice is remembered for up to six months.

Wix checkout has its own Privacy Settings banner and control for optional cookies, including Google measurement of booking activity and completed payments. You can reject optional cookies there and still book. Essential cookies keep booking and payment working. Because the website and checkout have separate controls, change your choices in both places if you want to withdraw consent everywhere.

Website measurement does not collect the contact details, messages or therapy notes you enter. Advertising identifiers are used on the main website only if you choose advertising attribution. I do not use your session information to build advertising audiences or personalise adverts. Usercentrics provides the cookie-choice controls on Wix checkout.

How long records are kept

The six-month notebook cycle applies to handwritten notes only. Booking, payment, correspondence and agreement records are separate. Their retention depends on the purpose of the record, outstanding bookings or queries, and any applicable accounting or legal requirements. Contact me if you would like to know what I hold about you or request deletion.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see your information, correct it, or have it deleted. You can also ask about restricting or objecting to its use, obtaining a portable copy where applicable, and withdrawing any consent you have given. These rights depend on the circumstances; some records may need to be retained for a legal obligation or an unresolved matter.

If you have a concern, please contact me. You can also raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
